The Department of Pediatric Rheumatology at the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) is seeking a qualified postdoctoral scholar for evaluation of the role of the intestinal microbiota in the pathogenesis of inflammatory arthritis. This position will be directly supervised by Dr. Matthew Stoll (Associate Professor, Pediatric Rheumatology) and will be in the shared laboratory space of Dr. Stoll and Dr. Randy Cron (Director of Pediatric Rheumatology.)

The major focus of the lab is to characterize the contents of and immunologic reactivity to the intestinal microbiota in subjects with autoimmune diseases as well as in animal models of arthritis. The successful candidate will be expected to assist with ongoing studies as well as to design and perform experiments independently, and to write manuscripts for publication and presentation. 

Qualifications: Candidates must have a PhD in molecular biology, immunology, or equivalent field, and prior experience in cell culture and small animal handling. Candidates should exhibit breath of knowledge in experimental design and execution to meet research goals.
