Students with Disabilities Services is part of Student Success. SDS offers accommodations to approximately 1,600 registered students with disabilities. These accommodations include classroom modifications and accommodated exam administration.
The Coordinator for Learning Disabilities and Outreach coordinates academic support services and serves as an accommodation specialist for students who have learning disabilities. This individual is responsible for support to students with disabilities in relation to documentation review, determination of appropriate accommodations, exploration of student or faculty concerns and promotion of self-advocacy for those with disabilities. This position also serves as the Coordinator for Outreach including disability awareness trainings, departmental presentations and office programs such as Workforce Recruitment and Accessibull. This individual serves as a critical member of the SDS team and will be required to assist with exam administration during peak times such as final exams.
Provide academic and supportive advisement to students with learning disabilities. Coordinate academic adjustments/accommodations and support services. Conduct accommodation meetings with students and facilitate documentation approval process. Consult with faculty regarding specific needs of student/faculty within each course.
Promote Student Success and self-advocacy.
Develop campus outreach programs and manage the outreach calendar for the SDS office to include programs such as Accessibull Ally, Workforce Recruitment, Accessibull, and other resource fairs/awareness events. Conduct individual department or organizational trainings as requested by Campus colleagues.
Hire, train and supervise graduate student for outreach.
Assist with peak time exam administration by working alternate hours during finals weeks (including weekend and evening hours). Represent USF as emergency personnel during campus emergencies.
Each position assigned to this classification must work require specific training at the Bachelor's degree or a Master's degree level in Education, Rehabilitation and Mental Health Counseling, Special Education, Psychology, Social work , Assistive Technology or other field appropriate to the program's content. Bachelor's degree candidates must have at least two years of applicable experience. The Master's degree may substitute for the required experience.
Prefer a Master's degree in appropriate field. Two years of related experience preferred. Prior experience working in a Disability Services office.
