Victoria College's Division of Instruction is hiring for a full-time, benefits eligible Library Assistant II.  This position is responsible for managing public services on behalf of the VC Library as well as supervise Library student workers and provide general support.


Duties include, but are not limited to the following:

  1. Manage public services.

  2. Hire, train, and supervise student workers.

  3. Assist library patrons in the use of media materials and equipment

  4. Promote awareness of library resources and support services to students, faculty, and the general public with the guidance and approval of the librarian.

  5. Manage library in the absence of the librarian.

  6. Staff circulation desk as needed.

  7. Compile and maintain statistical information as required for annual reports.  Provide statistics at the request of the Librarian.

  8. Other duties as assigned.


  • A high school diploma/GED required

  • 3 years work related experience required

  • Associate degree or 60 college credit hours preferred

  • Must be able to perform responsibilities and make decisions independently

  • Proficient in office procedures and communication skills

  • Knowledgeable of software consisting of Microsoft Office Suite and Library on-line catalog

  • Ability to work with students, faculty, and the general public

  • Available to work during the hours the library is open


While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands and fingers to handle controls, key pads, etc. Will be required to sit and reach with hands and arms as well as, sit, stand and walk. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 15 pounds while loading office supplies and paper. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, some color vision, and the ability to adjust focus from documents to computer screen. Hearing of light to moderate sound is required by this job. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
