The post-doctoral trainee will conduct research in the Goodrich-Blair lab focusing on the molecular biology and genetics of host-microbe interactions. Initial research will focus on elucidating molecular, cellular, and behavioral processes by which Steinernema nematodes recognize and respond to their Xenorhabdus bacterial symbionts. As part of this project the post-doctoral scholar will adapt and develop new techniques to facilitate investigation of the nematode host. It is expected that the post-doctoral scientist will engage in self-directed inquiry under the guidance of Prof. Goodrich-Blair toward developing an independent research program suitable for an academic professional career. Training will also include professional development opportunities to prepare for an independent career. It is expected that the post-doctoral scientist in collaboration with Prof. Goodrich-Blair will publish primary research and review articles. The post-doctoral scientist will help mentor student researchers.
