An exciting opportunity has arisen for Research Scientist position.

Summary:

Food consumption is expected to rise by 60% in the next 20 years. Our challenge is to affordably and sustainably meet that escalating demand while global resources diminish. Our vision is clear: Pioneering animal genetic improvement to help nourish the world. We are seeking a motivated Scientist to join our Biosystems Engineering Team and lay the cellular level foundation to sustainably transform the global animal protein industry.
The Scientist will be a thought leader within the growing Biosystems Engineering Division, enjoying the challenges and immediate impact inherent in a “startup” atmosphere within the context of a long-standing biotechnology company. The scientist will leverage biological and biochemical expertise to develop innovative cellular and molecular tools through evidence-based research. The successful candidate will be adept in collaborating within a multi-disciplinary team and mentoring junior research associates. The candidate will drive projects to completion using data-driven methods, display profound attention to detail, and demonstrate proficiency in the listed specific accountabilities. Specific accountabilities:
Understand the relationship between the cell and its environment using functional assays from the molecular and protein level through whole cell sperm physiology
Develop and maintain expert level knowledge of reproductive biology
Design and assemble research platforms to understand complex scientific concepts
Develop experimental plans that can be carried out by oneself or others
Proficiency in state-of-the-art cellular and biochemical analysis techniques
Work as a cohesive part of the research and development team
Maintain accurate experimental records, accurately analyze data, and effectively communicate results
Foster a scientific environment which challenges assumptions and strives for concrete answers
Drive lab efficiency and productivity

The Candidate:

Qualifications and experience:
PhD in cellular biology or similar field, with 2-5 years post-graduate experience or an MS with at least 6 years of experience
Experience with the following is a plus: reproductive biology, fluorescence microscopy, quantitative protein biochemistry, lipid biochemistry, flow cytometry, primary cell culture, microfluidic culture platforms, developmental biology

Ideally, candidates have experience working in a global role for a company in the agriculture sector.
