About the Memorial Student Center              

The Memorial Student Center is a department within the Division of Student Affairs at Texas A&M University. (http://msc. tamu.edu). The Memorial Student Center (MSC) enriches the Aggie experience by providing a variety of programs and events for the Texas A&M University student body and the surrounding Bryan/College Station Community. The MSC’s student-led programming committees produce hundreds of programs each year in the arts, cultural, education, and leadership development, while also producing service projects on campus and in the community. The MSC also actively works with its nearly 1,400 members and 33 staff to foster a conducive learning environment outside the classroom, to educate and inspire students, and to promote leadership and develop lifelong memories and relationships.

Position Summary     

The Student Development Specialist III serves as the primary advisor for two of the department’s student committees, MSC CAMAC Committee (formerly the Committee for the Awareness of Mexican American Culture), and the Student Conference on Latinx Affairs (SCOLA). The SDS III also supervises one graduate assistant in assessing retention efforts for both committees which is in line with the University retention efforts, may serve on University and Division committees and is very important to the Department and Division as the University becomes a Hispanic Serving Institution.

Required Education & Experience

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience

• Minimum of Five years’ experience in student affairs work or related specialty area with Bachelor’s degree or three years’ experience in student affairs work or related specialty area with Master’s degree in a collegiate setting

• Must be able to demonstrate knowledge and expertise in diversity awareness and programming

• Must be able to work nights and weekends as needed
