The Department of Mathematics and Statistics at the University of Nevada, Reno (UNR) invites applications for an open position at the rank of Lecturer II/ Lecturer III in Mathematics. This is a state funded, 9-month, non-tenure-track, career path lecturer position. The anticipated start date is July 1, 2019.
Duties of this position include teaching undergraduate mathematics or statistics classes in small and large sections, supervising and mentoring Teaching Assistants, holding office hours, developing syllabi, assignments, writing exams, maintaining a course website, and performing Department and University service. Other duties may be assigned by the Department Chair as necessary. The position is intended to support the teaching of core mathematics and statistics.
Opportunities for research collaborations and teaching exist during the summer.
PhD or equivalent in Mathematics, Statistics, or a related area, and experience teaching lower division mathematics or statistics courses at the university level.
Demonstrated ability and willingness to teach courses in mathematics for elementary school teachers, which are offered each semester for undergraduates in UNR's School of Education.
Demonstrated ability to teach upper division mathematics or statistics courses.
