Job Description: Review formulation, packaging, processes and other pertinent requirements for full assessment of product safety.  Evaluation consistent with internal and external information sources, current international regulations and works closely with multiple departments for assessments. 

Job Responsibilities:

  • Design and plan a safety assessment strategy for unique product formulation through evaluation of chemistry

  • Liaise with internal regulatory departments and authorities to comply with local, national and international regulations

  • Liaise with outside research organization and company collaboration partnerships to help in designing research and experiments to isolate, identify and measure toxic substances as part of a safety strategy

  • Advise on the safety considerations through usage, internal consumption of chemical substances in products

  • Involved in writing and evaluation of word tracks in questions related to safety considerations

  • Internally, collaborate with multiple departments in devising product or chemical safety assessments following appropriate analytical and research objectives to identify and quantify potential toxins and the effects

  • Evaluating and interpreting data

  • Analyze and evaluate statistical data and research scientific literature

  • Write reports and scientific papers and present findings

  • Authoring risk assessments to determine the likelihood of harmful effects or in the case of out of specification results, assess the risk and recommend appropriate action

  • Assisting in establishment of company safety policies and procedures for product regulations to protect humans, animals and the environment

  • collaborating and sharing scientific expertise and research findings with internal staff and management

  • Communication through writing and sharing scientific information to Wellness Advocates

  • Work closely with the research team or committee advising in clinical studies and IRB submissions in relation to safety needs

  • Other related duties as assigned

Job Qualifications:

Education and Experience:

  • PhD in Pharmacognosy, Natural Products Chemistry or related scientific discipline 

  • >3 years progressively responsible work experience in the field of Pharmacognosy, Medicinal Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, Nutrition, or Analytical Chemistry. 

           Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Demonstrated ability to work independently

  • Demonstrated expertise in written communication and technical writing through peer review research publications, manuscripts or other technical documentation

  • Excellent verbal skills through experience in presentation and communication of technical information to both scientific and non-scientific audiences

  • Knowledge of FDA regulations good documentation practices

  • Knowledge of US food production regulations

  • Organizational skills

  • Project Management skills

  • Problem solving skills

  • Proficient in MS Office programs
