Job Summary: Reporting to the Assistant to the Vice Provost for Academic Advisement, the position advises students on matters related to degree requirements, persistence, and completion; while assisting students to integrate personalized educational plans into their academic, career, and personal goals. Records student interactions; monitors and audits student progress. Creates, maintains, and presents material to support advising and student success; remaining current on the latest trends, practices, and research in academic advising and the disciplines they advise in. Maintains a network of referral sources for students to obtain information and assistance. Serves as a cultural navigator for the higher education experience.  
Duties and Responsibilities: Adheres to University and department policies, procedures, and regulations. 

Promotes student development and academic self-efficacy through proactively educating and coaching students in addressing developmental tasks (time and stress management, study habits, goal-setting, use of resources). 

Monitors and documents student progress using University technology (Campus Connect, Canvas, SOAR, Microsoft Office suite); provides intervention as needed. Processes student requests and documents. 

Advises students on academic issues. Assists students with course selection, schedule planning, college and university requirements, and understanding of policies. Supports students in addressing career and personal issues through appropriate partnerships on and off-campus. 

Participates as an active team member in the programs and academic college related to advisement assignments to support college and department-level initiatives and builds relationships with faculty, staff, administrators, and other stakeholders. 

Assists other Academic Advisors and the University. 

Additional duties as assigned.  
Minimum Qualifications: A Bachelor's degree is required. A valid driver's license is required.  
Preferred Qualifications: Experience within an academic advising environment is preferred.
