About the Olin College of Engineering:
At Olin, we define engineering broadly, from understanding people and their needs, to designing solutions, and extending to the delivery of new technologies and services to people and society. We also believe that engineers must build. It is only through the translation of engineering knowledge and theory to real-world products and practices that we can create positive change in the world. Every Olin student, regardless of major, takes multiple courses in which they take ideas from concept to physical form. At Olin, our instructional staff members work side-by-side with students and faculty across disciplines to teach the skills to make ideas real.

About this position:
We are seeking a full-time Instructor of Design and Fabrication to coordinate the delivery of design and fabrication activities in the Olin curriculum. This will include helping create and implement a set of policies and procedures for the safe use. The instructor will also support programs and provide design and fabrication advice to the users of the space. This position is limited to 2 years. If you have relevant experience, and you understand the importance of empowering students to learn to create through experience and exploration, we want to hear from you.

Responsibilities:
· Be part of the fabrication team at Olin and support activities in the shop and provide mentoring, technical assistance, instruction, training and consultation to students and student project teams in design, prototyping, and fabrication.
· Coordinate the design and fabrication activities associated with the Olin curriculum; oversee the use and operation of design and fabrication facilities to keep all students, faculty and staff safe.
· Take a lead role in developing and maintaining a culture of stewardship among students.
· Manage equipment and supplies within the design and fabrication facilities; coordinate and oversee student assistants in management and upkeep of design and fabrication facilities.

Requirements:
· A strong interest in teaching and prior experience in teaching, instructing, mentoring or advising students.
· College graduate with 0-3 years' experience in a relevant field is required.
· Experience with the maintenance and use of a variety of machine tools and fabrication techniques including rapid prototyping, mills, lathe, and a wide variety of materials, e.g., wood, plastic, metals, etc. Sheet-metal design, spray booth operation and/or composite/fiberglass assembly are a plus.
· Good communication skills with the ability to work effectively with students, staff and faculty by explaining new and unfamiliar procedures and helping them find solutions to fabrication problems.

To Apply Please Send:
· A current CV or resume, including contact info for two (2) references.
· An Olin-specific cover letter. Tell us why you are excited to join Olin and why you are excited to work with students. Also, please explain to us how your experience might contribute to the vibrancy of Olin's fabrication community.
